One of the best things about hot desking in Battersea is that when you walk to work, the air smells like toast. It is the perfect morning-time aroma: subtle, comforting, pleasantly fragrant.
Ask any of Battersea’s office workers and they will tell you that the smell wafts out from the Caffè Nero roasting plant nearby. But for a second, you can close your eyes and pretend there is something magical in the air.
Imagine, then, the sheer joy in our co-working space when one Thursday morning, the Le Bureau air turned sweet.
Lured by the heavenly smell, members migrated to the kitchen to be greeted by a sleek, red popcorn maker in full swing. That’s right: Popcorn Thursday is the latest addition to Le Bureau’s sweet treats roster that includes daily biscuits, Fruit on Tuesday and everybody’s favourite, Cake ‘n’ Cheese Friday.
Members can now enjoy a handful of fresh, warm popcorn, eaten from a nostalgic, candy-striped paper bag. And because everyone knows that popcorn and movies go hand-in-hand, our creative office managers have set up a chalkboard for members to jot down favourite film suggestions. So far these have ranged from horror (’28 Days Later’) to romantic (‘Ghost’) to nostalgic (some lovely soul wrote down ‘Beauty and the Beast’). Maybe they give an insight into some of the minds quietly at work amongst the desks?
Le Bureau’s incredible edibles are pick-me-ups on long, tough days; they encourage members to socialise and bond, and, OK, we should probably all be drinking green tea come 3pm, but there’s nothing like a mid-afternoon sugar-hit to get you through the day.
