11 things we learned at the Le Bureau Christmas party (that you may or may not remember)

The official Le Bureau Christmas party was due to begin at 7pm. Unofficially, it started as soon as the Prosecco corks popped at 3pm.

It gives you an idea of the vim and vigour with which members approached our 2016 Christmas party. But what did we learn? Can drinks ever really be free? How many photos are too many? And why, oh why, do we always end up in Mosquito?

Join us on a trip down (hazy) memory lane and discover the true meaning of Christmas.

1. It’s nice to be on time
No one wants to be the first one at the Christmas party, like Magda here. You end up nursing a glass of wine in an empty bar, nervously glancing at the door as you wait for others to arrive. Fortunately, members all made a concerted effort to arrive at The Imperial in Fulham for 7pm. Apart from anyone who followed the sterling advice of Ed Mitchell that is, and ended up on the wrong road.

2. Michelle and Michael are not related
It may look like they are brother and sister – and that they are very happy about it. But we can confirm once and for all that Michelle and Michael are just friends. And that if they both took their glasses off, they would look nothing alike.

3. Christmas is a time to welcome old friends
Le Bureau is such an inclusive, social coworking space that you don’t even have to work here to score an invite to the Christmas do. It was with great pleasure that we welcomed past members including Rich and James from Billhub, Emily Coyle of Zeek, Hugh Viney of Minerva Tutors, consultant Matt Hobson and Kayleigh Graham, as well as several of our members’ partners.

4. Le Bureau members go all out on the fashion front
All of them. Everyone made a real effort. It was truly a glorious sight to behold.

5. Duck and chocolate sauce is a thing
Savoury meat with fruit dressing is a time-honoured culinary staple. The addition of  a ‘soupçon’ of rich chocolate sauce to the duck starter, however, sent a ripple of excitement around the room when we sat down for dinner. It turned out to be a happy combination that many members loved – although Fran opted for the vegetarian option (above) and proclaimed it ‘delicious’.

6. It pays to be camera ready (at all times)
From selfies to everyone elseies and candid snaps, we took hundreds of photos throughout the night.  However, the big reveal – that our mischievous office managers had so assiduously kept secret – was a photo both, complete with a selection of festive accessories, including a police hat that may or may not have accidentally come with us when we went on to a club.

7. Keep your mouth shut
What goes at the office Christmas party, stays at the office Christmas party. No one likes the guy/gal who goes around spreading all the gossip come Monday morning. Fortunately, Le Bureau members were all very well behaved and there were no tales to be tattled. OR WERE THERE..?

8. Nothing says Christmas like a trip to Bunga Bunga
Fortunately Berlusconi had stayed at home when our members rocked up en masse for a Bunga Bunga party. We had been having such a good time at The Imperial that we missed our guest list entry by hour, yet everyone handed over the £10 entry fee with glee. Look how happy these fellow co-workers are!

9. Coworking means greater flexibility.
We hit the dance floor and immediately played it cool, drawing admiring glances from fellow revellers who were clearly in awe of just how cool we were. But why be cool when you can start a limbo competition with the broken chain from Kinga’s handbag? Fergal’s brainchild  quickly became a monster and the entire dance floor was soon competing to see precisely how low we could go.

10. Fringes are in.
And boy, are they working for us.

11. Coworkers who dance together, stay together
Some seriously impressive  shapes were still being thrown when 2 am rolled round. Some of our most stalwart partiers even made it on to a third venue, the infamous Mosquito club (although describing it as a club is pushing it a bit).

From the free Prosecco to the photo booth, the chocolate turkey to the packed dance floor, we couldn’t have asked for a better night. Huge thanks goes to Paul, Kinga, Magda G, Valeria and Magda S for arranging such a brilliant event, and to all the Le Bureau members who made it a party to remember (just about).  For those who couldn’t make it this year, we hope to see you all for more fun and festivity in 2017.
